The Westport Connecticut school system is considered the town’s prized asset.  With a yearly budget in excess of $62 million dollars, the town’s high school, two middle schools and four elementary schools place a premium on high teacher salaries and low student-teacher ratios.

Parents say the “Pearl” in Westport’s school system is Staples High School, which Town and Country Magazine named on of the 45 “most outstanding secondary schools in the nation.” Connecticut Magazine ranked Staples High School as the number 1 high school in Connecticut.

 Within its 20 square miles, there are fine restaurants, a thriving shopping area, three artistic and entertainment venues where major artists perform; the Westport Playhouse, Levitt Pavilion and the Westport Arts Center and a 62-acre nature preserve and nature museum where children and adults have the opportunity to unveil the wonders of nature.

The Recreation Commission oversees 210 acres of space including the Longshore/Compo Beach complex that offers golf, tennis, swimming, ice-skating, sailing, rollerblading, softball, fine dining and entertainment, a boating marina and yacht basin.  There are also two private clubs that between them offer golf, tennis, swimming and horseback riding.
