The Buyers are out in Full Bloom!

by Anne Nelson

The Buyers are out in Full Bloom!

Like many homeowners in Fairfield County, you may have chosen to wait out the sporadic weather that we experienced during the early spring selling season. The grass is now green, flowers are blooming and birds are singing a pleasant welcome song to buyers. An exciting time to sell and buy a home!

This lovely time of year does however offer its own set of challenges for the home seller. The increase in inventory means more competition, making it an absolute necessity that your home stand out above the rest. The good news is that we have years of experience successfully marketing homes and have spent an extensive amount of time researching methods that get results! But, a successful sale starts prior to the role out of the CSD Group Smart Marketing plan. Below are 3 simple ways you can help by preparing your home to impress the serious buyers.

  1. Curb Appeal – Spring is the time to focus on the outside of your home. Sweep walkways, trim hedges, place colorful potted plants in front. The exterior has to look inviting.
  2. Minimize the Clutter – Every buyer wants their own space. Help buyers to imagine their own things in the rooms by removing excess items from flat surfaces and minimizing furniture. As a general rule we suggest no more than 2 or 3 items on each flat surface, including bookshelves.
  3. Lighten up – Encourage natural light to shine through by washing all of the windows in your home, inside and out. Open curtains up wide and even opt for removing them all together. Add a touch of light to a dark corner by adding a floor lamp or a small table with a lamp on it.

Be sure to check back in the following weeks as we dive further into the ‘How Tos’ of home staging. Once your home has been prepared, professional photography will ensure that your home will stand out above the competition. It’s often helpful to have someone with a fresh eye view your home to make suggestions. We are available for in-home consultation if you are thinking about selling your home.

We want to know! As a seller, what is the biggest challenge in preparing your home for the real estate market?
